What is the primary function of Fire Retardant (FR) Clothings?
FR garments typically reduces burn injuries significantly, thus increasing a victims' chances of survival when caught in a flash fire or electric arc accident.
Are there standards or test to determine FR garments functionally in times of these accidents?
Generally, there are many performance standards and tests that exist to evaluate the performance of FR garments in times of crisis. Other than enabling objective evaluation of the protective equipment, their purpose also include defining of the minimum criteria in performance of equipment.
Why do FR garments command a higher price as compared to other work garments?
This is primarily due to their fire-retardant properties. Try comparing the price of FR garment/s and the possible medical costs incurred from a flash fire incident involving one (or more) victim clothed in ordinary work gear during time of incident.
Will the performance of FR garments decline over time?
The fire-retardant properties are typically inherent in Flemings Safety' protective garments, which means that our garments' FR properties do not wear off. Thus performance of our garments will not decline over time.
Can FR garments be repaired due to wear and tear?
FR garments can be repaired if it is minor tears and replacement of parts like buttons and zippers. We do not encourage any attempt to repair FR clothings with major tears or clothings which are beyond serviceability. Regional Flemings repair our FR clothings with materials and components that holds the same fire retardant properties as our fabrics such as threads and zip clothes etc.
